Two months after the celebration of the 90th anniversary foundation of the Zamboanga City Medical Center, I am trying to revive that hectic but nostalgic and meaningful activities-filled week.  The celebration started with the first day with a Thanksgiving Mass officiated by Father William Samson.  This was followed by the Flag Ceremony and shortly by a motorcade.  After a while ensued the cutting of the ribbon which signified the opening of the “Fonda Na ZCMC” dutifully performed by our city Mayor Celso Lobregat who was also the Guest of Honor during the Opening Ceremonies after viewing an exhibit of Memorabilia at the Conference Room showcasing relics from the past since the Hospital started in the form of pieces of equipment, pictures, and even paintings. The exhibits was artistically and painstakingly put up by Ms. Evelyn Monsanto with the assistance and contributions of Mss. May Yao, Janet Estomago, Milabel San Luis, Ma. Bella Tandoc, Lorna Paber , Hermie Apostol, Lucita Tardo, Lourdes Ledesma, Flordeliz Macaso, Herminia Perez, Milabel Ho, Monie Perez, the different departments, employees and alumni of the Zamboanga General Hospital School of Nursing.   In the afternoon a lecture on Pre-Retirement Counseling from Mr. Alfonso Ceballos and Ms. Marilyn Francisco, both from the Government Service Insurance System attended by several employees especially those nearing the retirement years.  A testimony was also given by the just retired administrative officer, Mr. Medardo Castillo.  At the same time, the opening of the Mini-Olympics commenced headed by Mr. Art Duterte.  The first day was efficiently coordinated by the Administration and Nursing Divisions with Ms. Evelyn Monsanto as the Officer-In-Charge.
