The garantisadong pambata (GP) of the Romualdez administration is the new Oplan: Alis Desease. GP is the new centerpiece program for children of the DOH. Apart from routine immunization, administration of oral polio vaccine and vitamin A capsules, and deworming, the campaign also gave out free kiddie toothbrushes and information on safe and educational toys.

GP has all the trimmings of the national immunization days of then Secretary Juan Flavier in 1993. Several launchings were also held for the campaign beginning with the birthday celebration of President Estrada in Taytay resettlement last April where the Chief Executive distributed packages of vitamins and toothbrushes to children. Vice President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, First Lady Luisa “Loi” Ejercito Estrada and Secretary Romualdez also did their share in providing health services to preschool children.

The Cotabato-based Moro International Liberation Front also opened its gate, a rare occasion, for the team of Undersecretary Mila Fernandez where more than 2,000 children of guerillas benefited from GP services.

Another round of the GP campaign came six months after, from November 29-December 3, 1999.
