The DOH Files

The DOH Files

The Philippine government, under the leadership of President Benigno Aquino III, is committed to deliver its promise to provide all Filipinos, especially the poor, with access to quality yet to affordable health care.  The Department of Health (DOH) is the key government body that is expected to spearhead this commitment for universal health care or Kalusugan Pangkahalatan (KP). An effective communication tool to all key health stakeholders, local government executives and political leaders is important to keep them abreast with all relevant information so they can be better equipped and motivated for collaboration.

The Office of the Secretary, through the Health Promotion and Communication Service (formerly the National Center for Health Promotion [NCHP]), produces a monthly 8-page newsletter called “The DOH Files” to communicate priority and current programs, issues and concerns of the Department of Health, particularly the progress of implementation of the Kalusugan Pangkalahatan .

The first issue was released on May 2014 and featured the major programs accomplishments under KP. “The DOH Files” will be inserted in the regular issue of “Vital Signs,” while other copies will be directly mailed to local health officials, local government executives, legislators, development partners and other health partners.
